HEROIN USE GROWS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA
CASSELBERRY, Fla., Jan. 23 (UPI) - Drug treatment officials say heroin
deaths are increasing in central Florida but less treatment is available.
A U.S. House Committee on Government Reform heard the sad story in
Casselberry yesterday.
The final tally for heroin deaths last year is expected to reach 50.
Larry Visser of a Seminole County drug treatment facility says federal and
state funding had been cut in the last eight years and that meant a
reduction of eight of the 28 beds he had at his disposal.
