SSPD YIELDS TWO ARRESTS IN MASSIVE COUNTY DRUG SWEEP

BENTON COUNTY - Two Siloam Springs men were among 35 individuals
arrested on drug charges in Washington and Benton counties Wednesday
morning in the final phase of a massive drug sweep dubbed "Operation
Daycare."

Arrested in Siloam Springs were Johnny Taylor, 34, of 1879 N.
Inglewood and Bradford E. Carroll Jr., 18, of 13825 Canterbury Ln.
Both men were charged with delivery of the controlled substance
methamphetamine.

The drug raid was the result of 18 months of investigation, according
to police reports. Earlier phases of the operation included purchases
of methamphetamine, crack cocaine and cocaine by undercover agents
from local dealers.

All of the 35 persons arrested on drug violations, were charged with
delivery of controlled substances, mostly methamphetamine. More than a
pound of methamphetamine, with a street value of $700-800,000, was
confiscated in the raid along with property with an estimated value of
$200,000.

The bust also resulted in the round-up of 34 illegal aliens. When
agents tried to serve a drug warrant on an employee at Ace Pallet Co.
in Rogers, 20 undocumented aliens tried to flee. With no drug charges
against them, the aliens will be deported, according to police reports.

Operation Daycare was a coordinated effort between six federal
agencies, two drug task forces, Benton and Washington county sheriff's
offices, Arkansas State Police, and five city police forces, including
that of Siloam Springs.
