POLICE SAY MOM TOOK KIDS TO HEROIN DEN
MARLBORO, Mass., Feb. 12 (UPI) - Police and prosecutors say they can
hardly it. A 32-year-old mother from Marlboro is accused of taking her
daughter and three of her friends to a drug den in Worcester, where
they say she injected heroin and smoked marijuana in front of them.
Sherrie Delashmit is even charged with giving some of the drugs to
one of the children - a 14- year-old boy. She was arrested Wednesday
after one of the students told an assistant principal in Marlboro
about the shocking ``field trip,'' which occurred last Friday.
Authorities say Delashmit pulled her 14-year-old daughter out of
school and allegedly forged notes for the other three. She was freed
on $1,000 bail yesterday after pleading innocent.
Marlboro Police Chief Joseph Barry says he thought he'd ``heard of
everything,'' but admitted this case really ``shocked'' him. And he
says that's not a term he uses lightly. Delashmit's husband says she
has been battling a heroin addiction for years.
