CLINTON SHOWS NO CONCERN FOR PRIVACY
WE Libertarians have a hard time mustering any sympathy for Bill and
Hillary's complaints about violations of Chelsea's privacy (``White House
`saddened' by magazine story,'' Page 17A, Feb. 5). It is disingenuous of the
Clintons to complain about their daughter losing her privacy when they care
nothing for all of ours. While we sympathize with Chelsea, her parents
deserve none.
Her dad's administration is in the process of imposing new banking
regulations which would force your banker to become a government snoop and
report any ``suspicious'' banking activity to the government.
Clinton also signed off on the anti-terrorism bill several years ago that
made it much easier for the government to spy on citizens, get wire-taps on
their phones, and search and seize their property. Clinton also tried to
force computer makers to include a Clipper chip in every new computer, which
would have made it easier for the government to tap into your private
computer files.
They have made every effort to snoop, spy, and invade the privacy of every
person in America. So excuse us if we can't feel sorry for Chelsea's
parents. People might respect her privacy more had her parents shown any
respect for ours.
