HPD VETERAN CHARGED WITH DRUG THEFT

A veteran Houston officer has been charged with stealing illegal drugs from
a man he pulled over during a police sting operation.

Tony G . Holman , 35, was arrested Monday while in a patrol car at Maxey
and Interstate 10.

Holman , who worked out of the northeast substation, remained in jail
Tuesday in lieu of $500,000 bail on charges of aggravated possession with
intent to deliver more than 400 grams of cocaine.

Louis Levine Thomas, 33, was charged with the same offense and held in lieu
of $800,000 bail.

HPD spokesman Robert Hurst said the men were snared in a police undercover
operation.

He said Holman stole about 2.2 kilos of cocaine from a man he pulled over.

Police estimated the cocaine's street value at $200,000, with the two
suspects allegedly sharing the proceeds.

Thomas allegedly pointed out the vehicle for Holman to pull over after
being told it would have illicit drugs inside.

Holman , with HPD for 12 years, and Thomas are suspected in other cases,
and the police internal affairs division investigation continues.
