'THREE STRIKES' WORKS
The reason the people of California voted in "three strikes" was that
we were frightened out of our wits with the number of hard-care
criminals running around loose. As usual, it required an initiative by
the people to rein crime in. Now we have legislators trying to make it
easier for criminals.
Think about this: "Three strikes" is three felony convictions, not
three misdemeanors. The average burglar commits 100 burglaries before
he is caught and convicted. These three-strikes criminals are not just
unlucky people. They were caught and convicted for felonies at least
three times.
Since the Three Strikes Initiative has been in effect thousands of
burglary, rape, child molestation, hold-up, mugging and murder victims
have been saved. We can't let misguided legislators change the law
that we fought and voted for, the law that is saving hundreds of lives
each year.
