MARIJUANA PACKED IN HOT PEPPERS
STRAFFORD, Mo. - A truck that pulled into a highway weighing
station tipped the scales with more than 7,000 pounds of marijuana
packed in with hot peppers in the biggest drug haul ever in Missouri.
The driver, whose name was not released, was arrested for
investigation of interstate transportation of narcotics.
He had 81 cases of marijuana valued at about $7.5 million, along with
several hundred cases of hot peppers.
The driver was believed to have picked up the load in Texas and was
thought to be heading for Chicago. Workers at the station on
Interstate 44 called authorities on Wednesday because of discrepancies
in his paperwork.
