COMPTON MAYOR, LEADERS MARCH FOR DRUG DEFENDANT
COMPTON, - Compton Mayor Omar Bradley will lead a
delegation of supporters to the Los Angeles County courthouse in
Compton today to support a woman charged with ``possession of $5 worth
of cocaine.'' Alexia Sykes, who's been sober for 13 years, is facing
25 years to life for the infraction because of two previous felony
convictions that qualify her for the ``three strikes'' law. Bradley
says prosecutors have offered a six-year prison sentence in exchange
for Sykes' guilty plea, but says she's not a threat and ``deserves
some kind of drug prevention counseling and no more than that.''
