`DAY IN THE PARK' SHINES LIGHT ON DRUG, ALCOHOL ABUSE
MONROE -- The third annual "Day in the Park" will be at Belk Tonawanda Park
on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Sponsored by the Union County Substance Abuse Task Force, the event is
designed to heighten awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol
abuse.
Activities scheduled for the day include drama skits, cheerleading
demonstrations, live music, dancing, raffles and an assortment of food
and refreshments.
There will also be children's activities, including a moon bounce and
a giant sliding board.
Special appearances will be made by Miss Union County, the Batmobile
and crime fighters Sparky and McGruff the Crime Dog.
Information booths will offer tips and suggestions on how to fight
drug abuse in the home and at school.
The task force invites everyone to take a stand against drugs by
attending "Day in the Park."
Admission is free. For information call 283-3882 anytime.
