MARIJUANA LAW OUTDATED
To the editor: My compliments to your newspaper printing the story:
War on Marijuana Waste of Time, Money - Critics (The Daily News, March
15). Allen Young is a brave, dedicated, and gifted law professor and
the politicians who make Canada's laws should start listening to what
he and so many others have been saying now for years.
The "Berlin Wall" of cannabis prohibition is beginning to crack. The
repressive laws that have criminalized marijuana use are based on the
false premise cannabis is toxic, dangerous, and a gateway drug. It's
time our justice system caught up with reality and our laws reflected
it. And it's time police and law enforcers remind themselves of some
basic principles of civil rights and individual freedom.
