MORE LAWS WON'T FIX GUN PROBLEM

Once again your Monday edition is full of reports trying to get
handguns outlawed.

Your front-page article states that out-of-state drug dealers bring
drugs into West Virginia to sell and then use the money to buy
handguns to take to other states.

Why doesn't the Drug Enforcement Agency do their job and stop the drug
dealer? That would be a good way to stop out-of-state gun traffic.

Since when can anyone in West Virginia buy a gun by just showing an ID
card? I have been a West Virginia resident for over 50 years, and I
have been buying guns for almost 40 years.

Since the Brady law, I have always had to submit to a background check
by the Department of Public Safety prior to any gun purchase. Since
the expiration of the Brady law, I now have to be checked by the FBI.

How do drug dealers from out-of-state buy guns with only an ID
card?

If law enforcement would enforce the laws already in place, we would
not have these problems. More laws will only make it harder for
law-abiding gun owners to buy guns.
