The Associated Press article on the Institute of Medicine medical
marijuana report misses one crucial point: Tens of thousands of
patients are living in fear of arrest and prosecution simply for
attempting to alleviate their symptoms.

I am thrilled to see that the federal government has taken the
initiative to study the benefits of cannabis.

The next logical step is to assemble a panel to study the health
benefits of jail.
