MAN, 90, GOES TO JAIL FOR TRAFFIC IN COCAINE
KINGSTON, N.Y. -- (AP) -- An 90-year-old man convicted of selling
crack cocaine has been sentenced to as long as four years in state
prison.
Authorities said Brose Gearheart ran a $1,000-a-week crack sales
operation from his home in Saugerties and routinely traded drugs for
sex with prostitutes. "I got nothing to say, I guess," Gearheart told
the judge at sentencing.
"Notwithstanding his age, we have to send a message," prosecutor
Michael Miranda said.
