LISTEN TO THE VOTERS

Why must medical marijuana patients beg for the county's support when
California voters approved a patient card program 10 years ago?

County officials elected by many of those same voters made their
desires known legally and through the democratic process. Those
officials weren't elected to "follow their individual conscience" -
they were elected to act on behalf of the people of the state.

At least Solano County Supervisor John Silva was honest about his
reason for not supporting the issue. He also sets forth the basic
reason why law enforcement is against medical marijuana: The
government has created a mammoth drug enforcement system with vested
self-interest in its own perpetuation.

Supervisor Silva, I invite you to visit the Web site www.leap.cc/.
Read about many of your fellow members of law enforcement who
have.come to view U.S. drug policy much differently. Perhaps then you
will be more inclined to act on behalf of your constituents who are
currently criminalized because of their medical choices.
