SAFE INJECTION ISN'T

Re "Heroin is never 'safe'," (Rachel Marsden, Aug. 24): I am pastor a
church a few blocks away from a needle exchange in Surrey, B.C.
Things have changed with the new mayor, but for a long time I was
accustomed to finding needles and half empty containers of meth (or
heroin or what ever it was) around the perimeter of the church where
children play. What made me angry was that the bleeding-heart hippies
in BMWs who wrote letters to the editor in favour of the needle
exchange lived elsewhere in the region and were insulated from the
effects of such sites. I would like to see the people who want
safe-injection sites offer to host them in their neighbourhoods and
close to their children's schools. The drug addicts are quite willing
to move there.
