Vancouver -- Re Court Allows AIDS Patient Right To Grow And Smoke
Marijuana -- May 11:
I consider it a tragedy that Canada's least able citizens -- i.e.,
AIDS patients and other chronically ill people -- are required to
mount costly, stressful and time-consuming court challenges in order
to light up a joint in their own homes, particularly when this
activity is perceived to alleviate symptoms of illness.
Let us all consider the meaning of "the right to life, liberty and
security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except
in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice." (Charter of
Rights and Freedoms, section 7).
