WASTING MONEY ON DRUG LOSERS
YOUR story on Annie Madden (Daily Telegnph. May 19) is proof that we
are wasting huge amounts of money and time on losers.
She says discrimination is killing addicts and that heroin users
deserve respect. She should be honest with herself and admit the only
thing that is killing her or others is the incomprehensible stupidity
of trying heroin in the first place.
I have the greatest respect for anyone who can lift themselves from
the gutter and turn their lives around and I fully understand that
they need support and help to get off heroin.
Any person who has kicked a habit will agree that the first step is
admitting that you have a problem. Only then will support and help be
of benefit.
People like Ms Madden who blame society for their problems, don't
deserve respect; they deserve the life of misery they have created.
Respect is reserved for those who earn it.
Addicts need to be pushed to get off drugs, not given sanctuaries and
freebies to keep them in supply.
It is a shame we don't spend all this time and money on cancer
sufferers, people who are the real victims, not criminals who have
chosen their own destructive path and try to drag society down with
them.
