GOOD ON YOU, JENNY PINEAPPLE

The arrest of lenny Pineapple for her ruckus in Smith Street, Collingwood
(The Age, 18/5), opposing heroin dealers who were openly selling their
poison confirms, for me, what I have believed for a long time. This is that
the police are not doing enough to stamp out the drug trade.

This is not entirely the fault of the police, who can never have the
numbers to defeat what is a community-wide social problem; nor can they
have enough intelligence information to trace the dealers to their sources,
or the organisational structure to cope and to deal with what is really a
guerrilla force.

I sincerely hope, for Jenny's sake, that she isn't charged with obstructing
heroin dealers in the performance of their duties. Bravo Jenny! You deserve
a medal.
