AN OFFENSE
Editor:
I recently spent some time in your town as I do most summers.
While I caught up on the local news I was drawn into the soap opera of
prominent citizens being suspected of drug-dealing, the cries of
rumour mongering and the anger about potential defamation. Still, I
couldn't help but feel that some people were over reacting. Growing
marijuana and/or selling drugs is certainly not an admirable trade,
but there are a lot of worse things a person could do. For example,
would you rather find out someone you knew grew pot, or say, drove a
Hummer? Just imagine, someone spending tens of thousands of dollars on
something that shows the world that they are consuming resources and
destroying the planet at a fantastically faster rate than anyone else
around them. Now, if you were to accuse somebody of that, that would
be really offensive.
