KELSO, Wash., - A Longview woman has pleaded guilty to
controlled substance homicide for providing a heroin addict with a
fatal fix in February 1998.

Jolaine Marie Story, 31, was sentenced Friday to 90 days already
served as part of her plea bargain. She had faced nearly four years in
prison, but she qualified for a zero-to 90-day term as a first-time
offender.

Story had been scheduled to go on trial Wednesday for the homicide
count and a heroin-possession charge. The latter charge was dropped as
part of the plea agreement.

She bought the black-tar heroin with Michael Goetz's $20 from Manuel
Zepeda Delgado, a 28-year-old transient who distributed the
extra-potent drugs blamed for several overdoses early last year.
Zepeda was sentenced to six years' imprisonment in May 1998 for
selling drugs in a school zone.

Because he didn't sell the heroin directly to Goetz, he couldn't be
charged with the homicide, prosecutors said.

Story said she and Goetz, 46, both injected the heroin in her room at
the Hudson Hotel. She tried to tell him not to use too much, Story
said. But he lost consciousness after about a minute and died less
than two weeks later.
