NEWS OF THE WORLD RESPONSE

Sir, In her column today, "Sniff and snigger", Libby Purves says of our
expose of Lawrence Dallaglio that "there are far guiltier men [we] could
have named". In doing so she conveniently overlooks the scores of child
molesters, arms dealers, drug peddlers, immigrant marriage racketeers and
shady swindlers we have unmasked. Rightly, many have been sent to jail as a
result of our investigations.

The fact is that drugs - and the crime and violence that result from them -
are the most serious menace in Britain today. For that reason alone, the
News of the World will continue to play its part in the war against this evil.
