DALLAGLIO'S TORMENTORS PRESS ON

The News of the World is planning to publish additional allegations
against the former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio on Sunday.

Its editor, Phil Hall, said the fresh information would cover alleged
drug misuse and sexual misconduct, and would prove its allegations
published last weekend that Dallaglio had taken and dealt in illegal
drugs. Meanwhile, a three-man panel set up by the Rugby Football Union
visited the newspaper's offices in Wapping, east London, to begin its
own investigation.

Dallaglio, 26, who quit as England captain on Monday, has admitted
that he had experimented with drugs as a young man, but denied ever
taking or dealing in drugs since beginning his rugby career.

While accepting that he had said much of what was attributed to him in
the News of the World last Sunday, Dallaglio claimed that he had
fabricated his story that he was a drugs dealer while a teenager and
took cocaine and ecstasy during the Lions tour.

A spokesman for Nike, the sportswear manufacturer and one of
Dallaglio's sponsors, said: "We are standing by the athlete pending
the investigation, as we would with all our athletes."
