PRIZE-WINNING DISPLAY PLANTS WERE CANNABIS

Plants outside Rob Christopher's shop were such a magnificent display that
they won the town's "Glastonbury In Bloom" award. However, a passing
policeman recognised them as cannabis and yesterday they landed the
shopkeeper in court.

Christopher, 31, who runs a shop selling natural products including some
made from hemp, a fibre extracted from cannabis plants, was found guilty of
cultivating cannabis and given a conditional discharge at Taunton Crown
Court. He was also ordered to pay costs of pounds 1,029.

He was charged under the name Free Rob Cannabis, which he adopted by deed
poll after being charged, and throughout the hearing was referred to as Mr
Cannabis.
