FAMILY OF ARRESTED DEPUTY DA REACTS WITH DISMAY,DISBELIEF

Fountain Valley-Lilian and Ray Kazarian couldn't believe it when they
heard it on the radio. It just wasn't possible that their son, Bryan
Ray Kazarian, an Orange County deputy district attorney, could have
been arrested.

Even more shocking was that their 35-year-old son was being accused of
being part of a drug trafficking ring that sold methamphetamine in
Hawaii.

The Kazarian said their son, who spent several years prosecuting gang
cases and worked with the Gang Target Unit based at the Costa Mesa
Police Department, was someone who worked to uphold the law, not break
it.

When Lillian Kazarian got a speeding ticket, she asked her son if he
could take care of it for her.

"He said, "Mom, you're going to have to deal with that on your own,'"
she said.

That is the kind of man Bryan Kazarian is, she said.

He had been proud of his position with the District Attorney's Office,
where he worked for six years, his parents said. He was a religious
man who attended church on Sundays.

"He loves the Lord and he believes in the law," Lillian Kazarian
said.

Bryan Kazarian could be defined by his love for his family, she said.
He had dinner with his parents at their Fountain Valley home every
Tuesday. He loved his wife, Tanya, and their 3-year-old daughter,
Alexis. Tanya is nine months pregnant, and the couple were fixing up
the baby's room at their Aliso Viejo home, Lillian Kazarian said.

"He's a very sensitive and tenderhearted person," she
said.

Bryan Kazarian was known as someone who worked hard and played hard.
He excelled at school and sports. He played football at California
State University, Fresno, where he got his bachelor's degree. He
earned good grades at Western State University College of Law in
Fullerton, where he got his law degree. He passed the State Bar exam
on his first try, his mother said. He was admitted to the bar in June
1991, according to state records.

"Bryan is one of the best people you would have the privilege of
meeting," said Silva Akoubian, Tanya Kazarian's aunt. "He is a
straight arrow. (The arrest) is definitely a major, major mistake."

The family believes that Bryan Kazarian was arrested on false
information.

"I feel like he must have been implicated by someone trying to get
him," Ray Kazarian said.
