GATEWAY
In your report, "Doctors back legalising cannabis" (21 June), Alistair
Ramsay, of Scotland Against Drugs, first claims that "cannabis can be a
gateway to a drugs career" and then said that "in the Netherlands, where
cannabis had been decriminalised, researchers had found that youths had
bypassed the drug, going straight on to amphetamines."
Well, is cannabis a gateway or isn't it? Science says no; Drug Tsars and
their ilk usually say yes; Mr Ramsay appears to be unsure.
