TELL CHILDREN TRUTH ABOUT MORE THAN DRUGS

The author suggests that we not lie to our children with regards to the
reasons behind our current war-on-drugs policies and strategies ("Teacher
complains of wrongful search," May 26; The Bell Curve, "There's no use lying
when children can see through to the truth," June 10). The federal
government has been steadily lying to all of us on these issues for over 60
years now, and they have succeeded in cornering the market on the pleasure
industry through their "approved" drug dealers, America's alcohol and
pharmaceutical industries.

Why give up such a successful approach now?
