MAN ACCUSED OF MARIJUANA POSSESSION
West Bend - A 36-year-old West Bend man found with 2 pounds of
marijuana in his home faces up to 10 years in prison.
Edward J. Urban was charged Tuesday with one count of possession with
intent to deliver, which carries a five-year prison term.
He was previously arrested in 1989 for possession of a controlled
substance and convicted of that offense. As a repeat offender, he
could serve up to 10 years if found guilty on the most recent charge,
according to the criminal complaint.
West Bend police officers responded to a call about a disturbance at
the man's home Thursday in the 800 block of Eastern Ave., according to
the complaint.
When police arrived, they found what they believed to be marijuana on
a table in the home, according to reports. Officers obtained a search
warrant and discovered 2 pounds of marijuana in the home.
Deputy District Attorney Todd Martens asked for cash bail, citing the
seriousness of the penalties and the amount of the marijuana.
"Officers found 2 pounds of marijuana packaged in a manner consistent
with delivery," he said. "There was evidence of a significant grow
operation and a large amount of U.S. currency found."
Urban remained in custody in lieu of $500 bail. His next court date is
June 30.
