MAP Editor Don Beck suggested calling attention to the excellent, web
published only, series by ABC news at:

http://abcnews.com/sections/living/secondopinion/secondopinion_31.html

stating that "This is big media promulgating the anti-prohibition message,
too important to miss." Thanks, Don!

In the story Rotting For Pot at
http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v99.n695.a11.html

I wrote the following note about the plea agreement:

Note: In the excellent article below is the paragraph "She was required to
get at least a couple of newspapers to publicize her statements that now
she understood that people could not grow medical marijuana because of the
fact that federal law superseded state law. One of the stories that
satisfied such an unusual plea bargain arrangement was a piece that was
published in the Sacramento Bee on Feb. 24, 1998." We are trying to
identify the article and will update our readers as soon as we can. -
Richard Lake, Sr. Editor, the MAP clipping service.

But, after exchanging notes with the reporter, Michael Pulley, I looked
again, and there it was, the story the Bee was sucked in to printing as a
result of a plea agreement:

http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v98/n127/a04.html is the Bee story
"Pot Grower Faces U.S. Sentence: Her Medical-Use Claim May
Win A Lighter Term"

http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v98/n126/a04.html shows another story, by
the OC Register, "Pot Sentencing Shows Federal/State Differences"

Now you know how the stories came to be printed.
