I KNOW EXACTLY WHY I AM IN FAVOR OF 3-STRIKES LAW

To the editor:

I do not want the editorial staff of the Orange County Register,a
judge,a professor emeritus from UC Irvine or a convicted criminal to
tell me I am too dumb to vote["Let the punishment fit the crime,"Local
News,Aug. 3].I voted for "three strikes" because of rampant
victimization by criminals,plea bargaining and soft-on-crime judges.

I knew when I voted for "three strikes" that juvenile crimes counted
and that only one of the felonies had to be serious or violent. I do
not believe that is draconian. I believe criminals are serving 25
years to life sentences for felonies they chose to commit; at least
they won't be victimizing my neighbors or me. In my opinion, the
punishment does fit the crime and justice is being done! But what do I
know, I'm just a dumb voter.
