POLICE CHIEF REVERSES DECISION OF BURGLARY
San Diego Police Chief Dave Bejarano has reversed a decision to reduce home
burglary investigations in the city after Mayor Susan Golding intervened and
advised him not to change the policy.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday that Bejarano was considering
eliminating home burglary investigations unless there was a known suspect, a
compelling lead or extensive evidence.
Golding, who learned of the proposal when reading the newspaper article,
held a news conference to publicly denounce the plan.
