BUSH JR SNIFFS AT COCAINE QUESTION

GEORGE W BUSH is coming under increasing pressure over the "cocaine
question" after a Democrat said that newspapers should press him harder
about his past.

The overwhelming favourite for the Republican presidential nomination
attacked "trash talk politics" after Tom Daschle, the leader of Senate
Democrats, complained that the media was giving the son of the former
President an easy ride compared with its treatment of Hillary Clinton. But
the questions are likely to continue coming for Mr Bush.

The New York Daily News asked all the other presidential candidates from
both parties whether they had used cocaine. Eleven of the 12 leading
presidential candidates yesterday denied ever using cocaine. The only
candidate who refused to answer the question was Mr Bush, it reported.
