TRUTH AND BEAUTY

JAMES Murray states the good intentions of the Sisters of Charity are
misguided in seeking to help and forgive the drug dependent, while they
condemn drugs and the associated sins.

Surely Jesus Christ who healed the prostitute and asked her to go and sin
no more, set a clear example of what truth and the beauty of life is about?

The humility, and to me the honesty of thought reported the same day of the
Most Reverend George Carey, Archbishop of Canterbury, refreshingly counters
the somewhat judgmental view of the more literal fundamentalist influence
presented by James Murray on his subject.

The great philosophers have long held that the truths we seek for happier
lives so often are influenced by what we wish to see, because of our own
set of beliefs.

John Howard’s current apparent blind acceptance of the American
fundamentalist view of heroin now being aided and abetted by James Murray
does not serve the country well.
