HEROIN INQUESTS
STATE Coroner Graeme Johnstone deserves the gratitude of a troubled
community for his attempt to reduce the heroin toll by identifying the risk
factors.
Victorians share his hope that when he gives his final report on 25 deaths,
drug agencies and police will have a much clearer idea of why people overdose.
The coroner is no stranger to the extraordinarily varied ways human beings
meet unnatural deaths.
Some fatalities are accidents. But heroin is totally avoidable.
Mr Johnstone is well placed to identify why people choose this fatal option.
