SHOULD BUSH ANSWER QUESTION? (LTE 1)

Your Aug. 20 editorial "Bush and Drugs: The best thing to do is answer the
question" nailed it right on the head in the first sentence. The media
frenzy is just that: a media frenzy.

These are the same media that gave a pass to Bill Clinton over his
marijuana use and never once asked him about the rumors of his past and
present cocaine use.

But because reporters insist on this line of questioning, it's only fair
for them -- and you -- to answer the same question: Did you ever use
cocaine or dance naked on a table while in college? What secret are you hiding?

To paraphrase your words: If your paper really expects to be trusted, you
must understand that every facet of your reporters' and editorial staff's
and publisher's lives are going to be questioned.
