STUDENTS TO GET BOOKS ON DRUGS
Ontario Provincial Police are forging ahead with a drug safety program
aimed at Grade 6 students in the Frontenac regions north of Kingston.
The plan is to distribute 142-page books that describe drugs, ranging from
tobacco to steroids.
The books also detail strategies that children and parents can use to
resist peer pressure and remain drug-free.
Local businesses and service clubs helped pay for the drug awareness books,
to be distributed in the townships of south, central and north Frontenac.
"Our community is obviously really behind this," said Const. Dan Marshall.
"This is a real opportunity to protect our youth."
