DRUG WAR

To The Editor:

In response to the current drug war in St.Lawrence County. I would like to
point out a perfect example of why we are against this so called war. An
article in the Aug. 24 Ogdensburg Journal reported a man accused of
assaulting a baby is released on a $1,000 bail. In the same edition it is
reported that several defendants of the drug sweep are being held without
bail. I fail to see the logic of justice in giving the perpetrators of
violent crimes relatively light bails and sentences while drug offenders are
denied bail and given lenghty sentences.
