NEVER ON WEDNESDAY
I share concern with the many local school boards about the high cost of
renting drug-sniffing dogs to protect our high school campuses. Four hundred
dollars a day seems so outrageous!
The community must band together to ensure our children receive this
much-needed educational service.
I, for one, would like to offer the services of my own dog to any of the
local school boards to sniff out all those drugs. Although "Farquar" has had
no formal training in this respect, the kids would not know this, and I can
assure you he would look very "official" sniffing about the locker rooms and
hallways.
You see, Farquar is a natural sniffer, and the spectacle of his little tail
held high and his nose to the ground would leave a lasting impression on any
would-be drug users. I am even knitting him a little sweater with the words
"YOU'RE BUSTED" written on the side.
As I am retired, Farquar and I are available almost any time, except
Wednesdays when he goes for his shampoo. I can assure you he is very well
mannered (he has never messed indoors) and, as you know, poodles do not shed.
Of course, I offer this service at no charge to the school districts; a $400
savings per visit! (With the money saved, you could even buy some new
library books!) Please call us if we can be of help.
