A CAMPAIGN FOR DOWNEY
The family of Robert Downey Jr. has launched a Web site to get people to
join them in a letter-writing campaign urging President Clinton and
California Gov.Gray Davis to spring the movie star from prison and put him
a lockdown rehab facility.
The site, http://www.freerobertdowneyjr.com, contains copies of letters
written by family members to the prez ant to sentencing Judge Lawrence
Mira. They say that before he was imprisoned in August for three
years,Downey was making progress in an Impact House program.
"While he is not ready to be in society because of his destructive
behavior," reads a letter signed by 10 relatives, "he is likewise not ready
to serve time in a state penitentiary." Who is?
