KEEP FIGHTING DRUGS
To The Editor:
With the recent events taking place in St.Lawrence County it may be time
again to try to talk to the Undecided, and the ones who are already hooked
on drugs. Hopefully if you're undecided when the time comes you'll say no
to drugs yes to life. If you're already hooked on drugs it may be time to
clean up your act. I know it isn't easy to quit the drugs, but people do it
all the time. If you can't quit for yourself and you're a parent then quit
for the children. I am sure they'll be glad to have you around to see them
grow up, drugs do kill. So if you're hooked get the monkey off you back, get
some help if you need to. Just think no more restless nights when you can't
get that fix, that alone should be enough reason to quit drugs. If you quit
you'll be surprised what a good ride life can be without the crutch.
As for the drug controversy in the papers of late, I say don't legalize
drugs. Everyone uses alcohol as an argument for legalizing drugs. Just
because people drink themselves to death, people kill, people rape, assault
people and verbally abuse people while under the influence of alcohol, is no
reason to legalize drugs that will double all the above and worse. I
believe anyone that wants drugs legalized is either crazy or and addict
themselves. I also think anyone who comes out for legalizing drugs should
take a drug test at least before I'll listen to anything they have to say.
Legalizing drugs would be the ultimate for a drug addict, hooking up the
whole country, you see misery loves company. After all the average heroin
addict will hook 20 friends or relatives on heroin before the drug kills
them. Legalizing drugs would be like unleashing a plague on the country. Who
knows what would happen to the next generation with no grandparents to raise
the children. It's bad enough now with the mothers and fathers out on the
streets doing whatever they can to get their fix; as the grandparents raise
the grandchildren.
So if you haven't decided yet do yourself a favor say no to drugs yes to
life. If you say yes to drugs the monkey owns you, your living for the
drugs, your body craves the drug, the junk and the dope. This habit is hard
to keep up with when it starts running into hundeds of dollars a day, that's
when most people run into trouble with the law. It seems people will do
anything to get their illegal drugs. If you say no to drugs you'll never
regret it and your family will never have to suffer because of you drug
habit.
I would like to thank Mr. Wilson and the county legislature for doing the
right thing and putting up the money to buy the illegal drugs, also thanks
to all the local police agencies for a job well done. I am sure you have
all seen the effects of drugs on people and the misery they cause the family
of the drug addict. It's realy refreshing to see people like the Morgans
and C.A.I.D. stand up and fight for what's right. Keep up the fight if you
win we all win even the addicts.
