BOARD APPROVES BEER-SNIFFING DOGS
(PASADENA) -- Golden retrievers with a nose for beer, pot and other
contraband will inspect classrooms at two Pasadena schools this fall. The
"Pasadena Star-News" says the school board approved use of the dogs as part
of a three-month, ten-thousand dollar pilot program. The proposal calls for
students to leave their backpacks in their classrooms at random intervals,
so the dogs can search for substances or ammunition. The dogs already are
being used at schools in Temple City and Alhambra.
