SHOULD CANNABIS BE LESS ILLEGAL?
YOUR REPLY, "Two wrongs don't make a right," to L. Doerr's recent letter on
the issue of legalizing marijuana displayed an interesting double standard.
Please elucidate.
SHOULD CANNABIS BE LESS ILLEGAL? SHOULD ALCOHOL BE REGULATED OUT OF legal
markets? If both drugs are "wrongs," wouldn't we double the good to society
by banning them both? No, we know we can never go back there (well, except
for most of Utah).
I hear prohibitionists complain that cannabis is another genie that
shouldn't be let out of its bottle. I think that's a poor analogy, because
we don't have anything even near containment at this point. But I know what
they mean. Once we throw out these laws, they probably won't come back so
easily. That's because people will prefer the legal adult markets.
