RCMP HOSTING COMMUNITY DRUG TALK AT CRC
The Vulcan RCMP is hosting a community drug talk at the CRC in
Vulcan on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
The talk is being facilitated by Donna Hanson from the RCMP after a
request from the Town of Vulcan and Vulcan County to address the
drug issues specific to our area.
The talk will look at cocaine, methamphetamines and marihuana--drugs
that have been identified as problematic in Vulcan and Vulcan
County. The discussion will be slanted towards parents, but parents
are welcome to bring their teenage children with them.
One of the topics that will be focussed on will be general awareness
of the drugs that are problematic and prevalent in our area. Hanson
will also give tips on what to look for if you suspect your children
are doing drugs and how to spot people selling drugs.
One of the toughest things for many parents is how to address drugs
with their children--Hanson will also touch on how parents can
address the sensitive topic and approach their children.
There will be a question and answer session as well for those in attendance.
If there is interest, there is the possibility of Hanson
facilitating a community plan for the area. At that time, then
teenagers would definitely be asked to come and represent themselves
and help find a solution for the drug problems specific to our area.
Hanson will address specific concerns and is open to having
more discussions in our area if there is interest to delve into
more specific concerns.
Drugs are a part of our community and part of the solution is a
community that cares and helps combat drugs on our streets. Make
sure you take the time to come out on Sept. 12 to find out just what
we're facing and how you can help to put a stop to it.
