QLD LIBERAL PARTY SUPPORTS LEGAL HEROIN FOR TERMINALLY ILL
The Liberal Party's Queensland Conference in Brisbane has voted to allow
heroin to be made legally available to terminally ill patients.
The motion calling for the drug to be administered by doctors to patients in
palliative care was passed after a close vote.
Doctor Stuart Reese, who was recently involved in a dispute with Queensland
Health over his treatment of heroin addicts, spoke out against the motion.
He told delegates a survey of heroin addicts found 56 per cent of them did
not support the drug being legally available under any circumstances.
