RCMP NOT IN POSITION TO WITHOLD SUPPORT

To the editor:

Re: "RCMP question safe injection site research," Sept. 1.

Sgt. John Ward says that without "an arms-length report by an
independent person or group to show how well or how effective that
site is, then we're not in a position to support it-period."

I have a position, John-it's called "the law," and you have sworn to
uphold it. This is not a police state. We the people, your bosses,
have decided, for the short term at least, that the law will not apply
to this site. You may not support this position but you will uphold
it-period.
