DRUG SENTENCES ARE UNJUST
In the article "Reforming criminals is the answer" (CT, Sept. 8), the
depiction of the negative effects of mandatory minimum sentences,
which target specific drug violators, accurately shows just how unjust
and costly mandatory minimums are.
The shocking evidence provided in this excellent article allows
readers to see the counterproductive consequences resulting from
mandatory minimums. Hopefully this article will encourage readers to
re-evaluate their perceptions of the these "get tough" policies used
in the drug war.
