PNP GAINS CITED IN DRIVE ON DRUGS
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and
Detection Group (CIDG) director Chief Supt. Lucas Managuelod said
yesterday the PNP is winning the war against illegal drugs in the country.
Managuelod said the CIDG alone posted a record high of seized illegal
drugs since January this year - some P50 million worth of illicit drugs.
A number of leaders of international drug syndicates were arrested and
are now facing criminal charges in various courts They could be meted
out the death penalty if convicted.
" So far we are wining are war against illegal drugs. We expect more
illegal drugs and drug traffickers to be arrested as we continue to
sustain our all-out campaign against this menace to our society,"
Managuelod said.
He reported that CIDG agents arrested a female illegal drug courier of
a drug syndicate and seized one kilo of shabu in an operation in
Tanza, Cavite, last Tuesday.
The suspect was identified as Carolina Alayon Santos, 37, of Lot 14-B,
Villota Subdivision, Tanza, Cavite, in his report to PNP OIC Deputy
Director General Edmundo Larroza.
Managuelod said Santos was arrested by CIDG agents led by Chief
Inspector Wenceslao Sombrero in coordination with the PNP Cavite
Provincial Police Office in barangay Poblacion, Daang Maya, Tanza Cavite.
Sombrero said the arrest was the result of a three-week casing
surveillance following reports that Santos was being used by a drug
syndicate as courier in the provinces of Southern Tagalog.
Santos, is now detained without bail at the CIDG detention cell in
Camp Crame.
