POLICE OFFICER, 3 MARSHALS ARRESTED IN NARCOTICS STING

A Houston police officer and three Pasadena city marshals were arrested
Thursday in a joint narcotics undercover operation by the FBI, the
Department of Public Safety and the internal affairs division of the Houston
Police Department.

Two Pasadena city marshals, one reserve Pasadena city marshal, the Houston
Police Department officer and two other people were arrested after
investigators saw an HPD patrol car pull over a recreational vehicle at Post
Oak and Hiram Clarke Road, said Alvin Wright, an HPD spokesman.

The suspects then took some cocaine from the vehicle's operator, Wright
said. The operator then got into an unmarked car with one of the suspects,
he said.

The suspects gathered at a house in southwest Houston and -- apparently
acting as if in an official capacity -- knocked in the door and took more
cocaine and some money, Wright said.

The suspects then got the RV at Hiram Clarke Road and Post Oak and drove it
to Meyerland Plaza. All the men, except for the HPD officer, were arrested
about 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Meyerland Plaza, Wright said.

The HPD officer, who was on duty the entire time, was arrested while having
lunch with another officer.

All face charges of engaging in organized crime and possession of narcotics,
Wright said. Their names weren't released Thursday.
