PRISONER WILL UNDERGO EXAMINATION

NAPA - Dagin Clark, 22, of Napa, will undergo an examination at San Quentin
Prison to determine whether he is a suitable candidate for state prison,
following no contest pleas to drug charges, Superior Court Judge Francisca
Tisher ruled Wednesday.

On Jan. 4, Napa police raided a Partrick Road "ecstasy party," arresting
Clark with 72 tablets of MDMA (known as "ecstasy,") a half ounce of cocaine,
three ounces of 52 individually-wrapped packets of marijuana, $708 in cash
and two loaded .45-caliber semi-automatic pistols, according to deputy
district attorney Fred Gutierrez.

The officers took 10 urine samples from two juveniles and eight young
adults, and all tested positive for ecstasy or cocaine, Gutierrez said.

Clark pleaded no contest on Aug. 5 to possession of cocaine for sale,
possession of MDMA for sale, and admitted an allegation of being armed in
the commission of a felony.

Clark had no prior criminal record, Gutierrez said.

Judges sometimes send a defendant for a prison examination in cases they
feel are borderline between a county jail or state prison sentence.

Following the prison examination, which has a 90-day limit, Clark will
return to Napa County Superior Court for sentencing.
