LEGALIZE IT, CONTROL IT AND TAX IT

John Walters, the head of the Office of National Drug Control Policy,
recently startled the media by admitting that the $3.3 billion "Plan
Colombia," now in its fourth year, has failed to make a significant
dent in the amount of cocaine flowing out of that country. He hurried
to say that he expects to see substantial progress in the next year or
so! Don't hold your breath.

Our strategy in Afghanistan is just as dismal. You may recall that
there were no poppy fields under the Taliban. Now that we "liberated"
Afghanistan, they are producing 90 percent of the world's opium and
heroin supply.

More U.S. taxpayer money down the rat hole. Legalize the stuff,
control and tax it. All the illegal trafficking would end. Think
Prohibition.
