DEFEND OUR VOTES ON PROP. 215
Regarding "State requires county to issue medical pot cards" (Aug.
30, Page B-3): In 1996, 56 percent of California voters approved
Proposition 215. It requires the state to facilitate medical
marijuana production, distribution and use, for Californians.
According to the article, Modesto Police Chief Roy Wasden and county
Supervisor Ray Simon oppose implementing Proposition 215 in Stanislaus County.
Appointed and elected citizens of California, including Wasden and
Simon, should focus their efforts publicly on defending the will of
the people, not trying to undermine it.
Proposition 215 affirms that the people of California know the real
dangers of marijuana use, and agreed it is safe and effective. Every
study on marijuana use has shown minimal or no negative effect on the
user's health.
